Olympus Surgical Technologies Europe selects Dynaflow Compliance ERM

Vision and innovation: these are the attributes that have made the Hamburg-based company Olympus Surgical world leader in the field of medical endoscopy. As a state-of-the-art competence centre, this Olympus Surgical subsidiary combines high-tech research and development, production, service and sales activities under one roof.

As of April 2008, the Olympus group, head-quartered in Japan, needs to demonstrate compliance with the Financial Instruments & Exchange Law (“J-SOX”). This included all of their local and foreign subsidiaries, including Olympus Surgical Technologies Europe. With tight deadlines, and as part of a larger ERM project, Olympus Surgical needed a solution to dynamically monitor and report the Segregations of Duties (SoD) violations within Infor ERP, used by several hundreds employees.

Solution

Olympus identified quickly that the solution to be selected should provide knowledge of the Infor sessions SoD violations and risks, as time and internal expertise constraints within Olympus made it not practical to develop and document this knowledge on their own. The solution therefore needed to provide such SoD knowledge, in addition to be ability to process the employee authorizations format used at Olympus.

Olympus selection concluded that “Dynaflow Compliance ERM from DynaFlow is the only business solution available able to scan Infor authorizations and identify all related J-SOX SoD conflicts.”

Implementation

With limited time and resources availability, a quick implementation was key. Within the first week, the installation and custom configuration were done, training provided and the entire employee accesses scanned. With the most critical SoD issues now visible, Olympus immediately took action to resolve them, contributing to their successful J-SOX SoD certification.
